WELCOME TO STOKE-ON-TRENT'S ONLY MUSIC SCHOOL DEDICATED SOLELY TO SINGING LESSONS & VOCAL PERFORMANCE
When our founder Loren graduated from BIMM London (whose alumni includes George Ezra, James Bay, and BGT & X Factor Vocal Coach, Annabel Williams!) in 2014 after three years of studying Vocals, she always knew she wanted to return to her hometown and bring that high-level education and experience back to aspiring singers and performers right here in Stoke-on-Trent.
Before moving to London to study Popular Music Performance and Creative Musicianship (Vocals), there wasn’t a space like The Song Loft – a place to grow as a contemporary vocalist. Loren’s early experiences included traditional singing lessons from age 12, and the only available outlets were through Performing Arts and Musical Theatre. While valuable, these didn’t fully support the thorough 1-1 coaching and development required to truly master vocals and singing auditions.
After returning to Staffordshire, she quickly recognised the need for a music school that focused purely on modern singing lessons – a creative, inspiring environment where students could truly develop their vocal ability, stage presence, and confidence in contemporary styles.
Loren began teaching 1-to-1 vocal lessons from her home in 2016, before joining Rhythm Foundry Music School as a vocal tutor for several years. Following the 2020 pandemic, and as soon as restrictions lifted, she opened the first version of The Song Loft – located on the top floor of a building on Broad Street in Hanley (and yes, that’s where the name came from!).
As demand grew, so did the need for space. Now, with 50+ active students, The Song Loft is based at The Production House in Tunstall – home to Six Towns Radio and film production company, Reels in Motion.
We’re proud to be a one-of-a-kind music school in Staffordshire, offering high-quality singing lessons and vocal coaching in a space where performers of all ages can thrive. Situated in North Staffordshire, we welcome students from across Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, Cheshire, and the Staffordshire Moorlands. We’re also conveniently located for students from Newcastle-under-Lyme and Congleton, with easy access via the A500 and A34.
OUR FACILITIES
After outgrowing our original loft space in Hanley, The Song Loft is now based at the unique Production House – a vibrant, trendy, and dynamic building that’s home to creativity and designed to inspire everyone that walks through the doors.
Many grandparents may remember the building as Ryan Hall, a former parish hall. In 2017, it underwent a £250,000 renovation, transforming it into the thriving space it is today.
The building offers a stylish communal waiting area, kitchen, central heating, and WC facilities. Students at The Song Loft also benefit from access to a soundproof recording booth, green room, and white cove studio, which are available to book for recordings, music video content, headshots and promo shoots.
Our studio itself is fully equipped with:
- A 4x3m stage
- Bose sound system
- Shure microphones
- Mic & tablet stand
- Ring light with a device holder for capturing progress
- Donner keyboard
- Acoustic guitar
- TV monitor for lyrics and visual support
- Ear defenders available for SEN students or those sensitive to sound
- Colouring activities to keep younger siblings occupied during lessons
